Maui County Property Tax Rates – 2026/2027

Beginning July 1, 2026 this is the new property tax classification and rate sheet for the year going forward.  Compared to last year, the tier pricing has changed again, with some increases and some decreases.  Some of the assessed values in the tiers have also changed, some up and some down.

As Maui residents, if you live in your own home you can qualify for the homeowner rate based on 3 tiers of assessed value.  The lower rates makes it a little easier to afford living here on Maui, unless your property is valued over $4,500,000.  The highest tax rate applies to non-owner occupied homes that are assessed over $2,500,000 – at $17 per $1,000.  If you’re a landlord renting long term, you can also catch a break if you apply and can prove the situation.

Some good news this year – you can now apply for the homeowner rate to take effect mid-year instead of only at the end of the year.  This is really helpful for local people buying a home on Maui.
