The Hideaway, at the Montage Kapalua Bay
It’s a new venue at this exclusive resort on the west side of Maui. You’ll find them on the ground floor, right next door to Cane & Canoe which is more of a fine dining restaurant. The Hideaway is very casual, there’s indoor and outdoor seating, and they’re kid friendly. The outdoor tables have the fun firepits in the center, but don’t think that means you have to cook your own food!
The Yelp event on a Saturday evening was to introduce us to the new restaurant and let us sample some of the current and upcoming pupu menu items. About 14 of us were treated royally, seated at a long table and supplied with craft cocktails and an endless array of delicious appetizers. What we tasted: Devilled eggs topped with trout eggs; mini sausage rolls/pigs in blankets with a mild red pepper dip; coconut shrimp satay pops with Thai chili sauce; New York strip steak bites with truffle oil vinaigrette; fried duck drummettes with an Asian style sauce. Everything was absolutely delicious! The chef and the staff were on hand to explain each item and make sure we had enough.
