East Maui Skate Park is open:
This new 15,000 square foot skate park just opened up in December of 2018, with a grand opening ceremony attended by many happy skaters. Multi level features include a half-pipe, quarter-pipe, stairs and ramps, rails and ledges, similar to the one in Lahaina. Since there are no lights, the park will close at dark. It was built by Goodfellow Brothers for about $1,460,000 after groundbreaking in early 2018. Watch the video.
Located at 91 Pukalani St. in Pukalani, in the large grassy area between the Upcountry Swimming Pool and Pukalani Elementary School. Park up at the pool or Community Center or along the road to the skate park. Plenty of handicap parking too.
The Upcountry Swimming Pool is closed:
The pool is currently closed while resurfacing is being done. Global Specialty Contractors Inc. is handling the job of replastering the walls of the Olympic sized upcountry pool and expect to have it done by April 2019.
